Bobbi Brown Long Wear Even Finish Compact Foundation

If you want to know one thing about me, its that I get bored of foundations way too quickly and and up switching up my base pretty often. I was really intrigued by the Bobbi Brown Long Wear Even Finish  Compact Foundation (what a mouth full). I remember one of my favorite foundations used to be Max Factor Miracle Touch Liquid Illusion Foundation and this Bobbi Brown compact seems to deliver very similar results.
The foundation is a creamy formula and it is actually hydrating, I thought it would dry out my skin and extenuate the dryness. The downside is that it could be comedogenic because of it's  thicker consistency, but so far no breakouts! It comes with an applicator sponge, which works well but I prefer buffing it into the skin with a face brush such as the Zoeva 102 Silk Finish Brush. It blends really nicely, helping you achieve a medium coverage. One point of difference that stood out for me is how smooth it made my skin, it glides on to create really soft skin that looks very natural!  It does give a dewy effect and I always like to set it with a bit of translucent powder just to make sure it doesn't move!

The product claims to be long lasting, I didn't notice that it stayed on for too long unfortunately...I applied it in the morning and by the evening it has almost rubbed off. So the only bad thing I have to point out is the staying power.
I wouldn't wear this on an night out but it's perfect for an everyday daytime look.
Everyday look. Colour:  Natural

What are your thoughts on this product! Let me know!

Know the difference; BB, CC, DD Creams

So as I'm sure you all know by now, there has been considerable hype surrounding the  BB, CC and even DD creams. Even though everybody's swearing by them, I still get asked on a daily basis things like, "what is the difference between the creams". So, let me break it down:
BB CreamAlso known as Beauty Balms, they are essentially a tinted moisturizer. They have a very lightweight creamy texture.  They are very light coverage and create a dewy finish. They do even out the skin tone however due to their consistency they do not conceal redness very well. They contain other benefits such as SPF, hydration and anti blemish ingredients.
Top picks
  • Stila All Day 10-in-1 HD Beauty Balm SPF 30, $38
  • Clinique Age Defense BB Cream, $37
  • The Body Shop All-in-One BB Cream, $20

CC Cream
A complexion corrector is known for its medium to full coverage as it has a more fluffy, whipped texture. It contains Vitamin E and C which is perfect for people with dull or acne prone skin. Some CC creams contain ingredients such as Glycerin which is essential in fighting blemishes.  It hydrates the skin, covers any redness and large pores.
Top picks
  • Lorac CC Cream, $28
  • Max Factor CC Cream, $19.95
  • Almay Smart Shade CC Cream, $9

DD Creams
DD creams have been primarily developed to target anti-aging. They contain active ingredients to balance skin tone, diminish fines line and cover large pores. Not only is it fuller coverage. They are often self adjusting so therefore come only in one shade. It is also very moisturizing. It contains SPF which protects against further damage. These are relatively new on the market but dermatologists are already swearing by it, because it  "delays, defends, delights, and delivers".

Top picks
  • Julep DD Creme, $36

 Is there really a difference?
It all depends on the desired effect you are trying to achieve, BB creams and CC creams tackle similar problems therefore people don’t see too much of a difference. However it is also important to choose one that suits your skin condition, for example DD is most suitable for mature skin.Best way to find the perfect formula for you is to simply try it out, everyone's skin is different!

Hope that helps!

50's inspired makeup

Hey everyone, last night I was watching the movie On The Road based on the book by Jack Kerouac. I fell in love with Mary-lou's (Kristen Stewart) and Camille's (kirsten Dunst) makeup, not to mention all the women in general.
I kept the base very simple with just a little bit of contour and a deep plum blush. I used Nars Laguna for contouring and Nars Seduction for the blush. I noticed that their eye makeup was very simple but was accompanied by a statement lip. I used the Stila In the Light Palette (Kitten and Bare in the middle of the mobile lid and Bliss and Sandstone in the crease and outer corner) . I finished off the eyes by adding a thin winged eyeliner, the one I always come back to is the Liquid liner by Face of Australia; it is so easy to use I have never done a wing wrong!
I wanted a striking red lip so I chose Ruby Red by Max Factor. This lipstick stay's on all day and it doesn't leave my lips look dry and cracked.
For the hair I wanted tight curls, since my hair is already relatively curly, all I had to do is add a bit more definition with a curler and some hairspray!
Hope this inspires you to try out some classic makeup looks. I think its perfect for a night out or even a daytime date.

Plimsolls

These shoes instantly make anyone feel and more importantly, look cool. No wonder everybody is joining the plimsoll hype. I was initially looking for a party outfit when I spotted these in the Sportsgirl window. I've seen similar one's in Seed, Witner and Windsor Smith, but I couldn't justify paying over $100 knowing that they were going to get dirty within a second. For only half the price of the Windsor Smith Plimsolls, these babies are comfortable which makes them perfect for Uni, even better they make any outfit look put together; even trackies and an oversized sweater instantly look fabulous!

Have you caught onto the sports luxe trend? Love 'em or hate 'em, Let me know!

TGIF

Hello everyone, happy Friday! I hope you have had a wonderful week. It has been a little bit cold and rainy today and its bound to stay this way for the rest of the weekend so I felt inspired to chuck on my biggest cosy knits and just spend the evening in bed. After such a busy couple of days I think its time to take a deep breath, sip some hot chocolate and listen to some music. I have updated my spotify playlist, one of my favourite tracks at the moment is Delete by DMA's, have a listen below.

Thats it from me, have a lovely and relaxing weekend!

Quick Review: Kiehl's Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado

"Rich and creamy non-migrating formula that delivers moisture to the delicate under eye-area. Gently protects the skin against external aggressors".

I have no real aging concerns so far, however I was looking for a product that would hydrate my under eye in an attempt to stop my concealer from creasing. I do have dark circles around my eyes, which could be thanks to genetics. Let me quickly tell you about the basic ingredients; Avocado (duh) provides vitamin A/D/E which are proven to help with brightness, firmness and overall glowing skin. Beta Carotene is a source of Vitamin A which is known for essentially correcting the skins condition by improving cellular structure and increasing blood flow. Lastly, everyone's favorite source of hydration and moisture; Shea butter!

This formula is very creamy and rich which is why I needed very little to cover both my eyes. I applied it in the evening before bed, in the morning I definitely saw a difference. My eye area appeared brighter! After applying my daily moisturizer I applied this again, it allowed my concealer to go on easier. During the day my concealer was crease free with no dry patch in sight! This little pot of goodness has been a part of my daily skincare routine for over 3 months now and I can confidently say that it really does make a difference! My dark circles have been erased, any signs of puffiness are instantly fixed and I have noticed an overall improvement in brightness and hydration.

Its no anti aging cream so it wont reverse the signs of aging but for a young skin like mine, its perfect.

Have you tried this? Are there better under eye creams that you know and love!? let me know!
