Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water 400ml $11.95AUD. |
What is Micellar water:
As I'm sure most of you will agree, the current trend in skincare is Micellar water.
They were first introduced by high end French skincare brands Caudelie, Lancome and Darphine as an alternative to tap water. Soon, it was every makeup artists must-have product. It wasn't long before drugstore brands such as Bioderma and Loreal adopted them. So what sets these products apart from other makeup removers? Micelles are simply oil molecules suspended in water. Without getting too technical, oil attracts oil so they work really well to remove makeup and neutralize the skin. The amount of water in the solutions outways the amount of oil so it quickly evaporates leaving the skin feeling refreshed. Micellar water contains minimal ingredients which is why it's so great for all skin types!

How to use :
The first step in your cleansing routine. Simply apply a small amount onto a cotton pad, gently swipe across the face. No water required!
Thoughts:
Having used Bioderma before, I was impressed with this product. It definitely took off a majority of my makeup. I like that it didn't leave my skin feeling oily or dry. It doesn't sting if it gets in my eye which is another bonus! .
I wouldn't use this as my only night time cleanser because I tend to wear heavier makeup for work. It doesn't completely remove heavy eye makeup. That being said, it is great for days when I don't wear too much makeup. I have started using this in the mornings to remove any oil or dirt build up from the previous night.
Is it right for you:
If you are new to micellar water, I definitely recommend getting this one because it is one of the cheaper ones on the market, generally micellar waters all contain similar ingredients anyway.
I would definitely recommend this to someone who has sensitive skin, is a frequent traveler or who cannot access clean water (i.e. when camping).
Let me know if you have tried this product, or micellar water and what you thought of them!
