Review & Tutorial: Urban Decay Naked3 Palette

Oh yes! I finally got my hands on this baby! The Urban Decay Naked3 palette contains a great balance of pink and brown hues to suit any occasion or skin tone. The pigment of the eye shadows is great (as always) and I find them very easy to blend. At first it can be overwhelming having 12 colours to pick and combine. In my excited state I wanted to pack as many as possible onto my eyelid, oh dear!

Colour rundown:
  • Strange is a great white matte shade that works well as a base to neutralize the lid.
  • Dust is a pale pink with shimmer. I did find this one to have quite a bit of fall out due to its powdery texture.
  • Burnout is a close cousin of Dust because of its pinky tones. It does have a more pearly finish and more brown undertones. I find I reach for this colour the most because it can go with any look, its smooth (not powdery like dust) and not fall out!
  • Limit is another great matte shade its great to use as a blending colour.
  • Buzz is one of my favorite of the bunch because it is such a versatile shade! it has a rose shimmer but also a copper undertone. it has  great texture and colour payoff! I like to layer this one with Liar add depth to the crease of the eyelid.
  • Trick is a pinky-gold shade with a lot of shimmer. It is perfect for adding a pop of colour.
  • Nooner is another matte one perfect for blending or neutralizing the lid.
  • Liar is a pink mauve colour with shimmer, it is a warm tone so it can be pared with just about any colour from the palette. It has a shimmery finish with a creamy texture.
  • Factory is a brown shimmer shade with great pigmentation and soft texture. I love using this shade in the crease of the eyelid, it can be great for a creating a dramatic eye or a subtle daytime look.
  • Mugshot is another muave-tone colour. It is a darker one of the bunch but still a great blending colour to intensify the look. It has great colour payoff.
  • Darkside is a gorgeous colour because of its deep taupe colour. It has nice pigmentation and blends beautifully with other shades.
  • Blackheart is obviously the darkest of them all with a smokey burgundy tone. this colour will turn any look from day time to night time appropriate!

Overall, the palette is beautiful, UD has put a twist on the classic neutral eye shadow palette with its gorgeous pink hues.
Get the Look
  1.  Start by applying maybelline's colour Tattoo in Inked in Pink all over the lid
  2. Add Burnout on top of the colour tattoo to add shimmer.
  3. to add depth, place Liar to the crease and blend out with Buzz
  4. To intensify the look add Factory the outer crease and to the lower lash line. Add a pop of colour by placing Trick it the center of the lid. For a night time look layer Blackheart for a dramatic eye. Finish off the look by adding mascara of your choice (I used Max Factor masterpieceMAX Volume)

  2. I have the Naked2 palette and keep wondering what Naked3 is like. I have only seen people saying it's great, but no close-ups of the colours, or mention of what the shades are like. At least now I can consider buying it. A very useful post and great tutorial.

    1. Hi Louisa!
I have the Naked2 and I know exactly what you mean! It is hard trying to make a decision based solely on other peoples opinions but I hope I helped steer you in the right direction ;)
